Welcome to "Team Ninja Ducks!" Official Blog!  Students, will use this website as a guide to investigate the usage of the 6+1 Traits of Writing to successfully create a writing sample to be graded. 

Statement of Purpose (Students will):

1a. Identify your students- Provide the demographics of your students: 5th Grade,Writing, Mastering the 6+1 Traits of Writing for use in personal writing, Low-Middle Class, Rural, Non-Proficient Writers, Video/audio feeds for visual and auditory learners,working within classroom, computer lab/IC, or home practice.

1b. Identify your students' needs.-Students will learn the 6+1 Traits of Writing and what criteria makes up each trait. Students need to have practice in using these traits to successfully fulfill the writing process when making a writing piece.

2. Define Expected Outcomes (standards). The overall outcomes will be defined by the standards for the topic area and grade level being taught. In this final project we will use the Iowa Core Curriculum or other relevant sets of standards in the K-12, Post-Secondary or Commercial world. Identify the outcome you will be pursuing. Begin by looking at the subject area and then look in the grade level.

3. Define Performance Objectives: - Students will write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences.( Iowa Common Core, W.5.3)

-Students demonstrate an understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations with 95%
 proficiency after tested in each module.
-Students will be able to write a narrative with 95% proficiency after assesses ed.
-Students will use descriptive details in there writing that fit the common core standards.
-Students will find clear sequences in various pieces of writing and create their own examples.

4. Assessment:
1. Students will be given a writing prompt after ever trait and asked to identify and create own example to demonstrate that trait.
2. Students will be given a final assessment at the end that will evaluate all 7 traits in one piece of writing from a 5th grade level.

5. Strategies for Teaching:
-Direct Instruction for Introduction into 6+1 Traits of Writing
-Guided Practice through online video tutorials
-Web 2.0 Tools for creation practice

6. Unit Overview
Learning Target:
-Students will write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences.( Iowa Common Core, W.5.3)

-Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations.

Outline:

-Students are introduced to each trait via a tab on the blog:
1. Ideas
2. Organization
3. Voice
4. Word Choice
5. Sentence Fluency
6. Conventions
7. Presentation

-Students will complete each trait section of the blog, followed by an assessment at the end of each blog page.

-Students will be assessed over all 7 traits at the very end of the unit via a Google Form on the "Assessment" tab.
